Tourist attractions in Dubai have always been out of the ordinary, and the Museum of the Future fits that category like a glove.
Even amid Dubai’s eye-catching constellation of architectural wonders, the Museum of the Future is destined to be a star attraction.
The Museum of the Future: The Design
The giant silver egg-shaped museum is a 77-metre (252ft), seven storeys building that displays attractions positioned around the entire windowless building.
The construction of the 17,600-square-metre (189,444-square-foot) facade, which is made up of 1,024 stainless steel components, took 18 months.

- One display depicts living within a massive space station in the year 2071. While another is a computer recreation of a ‘luscious’ tropical jungle.
- ‘Experiential displays’ are spread across five levels, with one of them – the cosmos-themed ‘OSS Hope’ on the top floor – allowing visitors to ‘act out their own story’ in space.
- The rainforest section on the next floor down, called ‘Vault of Life’, is a recreation of a real part of the Amazon rainforest in Leticia, Colombia. It depicts the rainforest’s ecosystem ‘with unparalleled realism’.
- Up next is the ‘Al Waha’ display – which is described as an opportunity for visitors to ‘explore themselves in a world that stimulates their senses’. Here, visitors can embrace a private journey in an environment that is purely focused on their health and well-being.
- Moving down a floor, visitors will discover the ‘Tomorrow Today’ display. This ‘explores the contrasting ways in which technology can shape the future and the wide-ranging responses it can provide to the challenges that the planet and society are facing’.
- Finally, on the lowest level, visitors will happen upon the ‘Future Heroes’ section – the play space that’s designed for children under the age of 10. This space sets out to encourage ‘young minds to make new discoveries about themselves and the world around them’.
What is written on the Museum of the Future?
This facade is adorned with Arabic calligraphy. These three quotes were written by UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The first reads: ‘We may not live for hundreds of years, but the products of our creativity can leave a legacy long after we are gone.’
‘The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it. It isn’t something you await, but rather create,’ reads the second, while the third says: ‘Innovation is not an intellectual luxury. It is the secret behind the evolution and rejuvenation of nations and peoples.’
These quotes similarly appear on the white walls of the museum interior.

Of course, you can!
The Museum of the Future was opened to the general public on 22 February 2022. It opens daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
What is the theme of Museum of the future?
The museum is built on the premise of the future, as the name itself states. The holiday highlight’s motto is ‘See the future, create the future.’ As such, it will let visitors interact with the future, using its cutting-edge technology to distinguish itself from other museums and provide an immersive experience.
Is the Museum of Future free?
Wouldn’t we just love it if all the tourist attractions in Dubai were free? Of course, we would! But that’s not the case, and it’s the same with the Museum of the Future. Entry to the museum costs Dh145. However, it is complimentary for children under the age of 3, people of determination and Emiratis aged 60 and older. The tickets are on sale on the museum’s website www.motf.ae. All visitors, including those eligible for free admission, must book a time slot to enter the museum.
Despite the mild uncertainty surrounding travel right now, travellers are more excited than ever to once again experience the tourist attractions in Dubai.
