Visiting Fiji: The country to Reopen to Vaccinated Tourists in December

After nearly two years of being under strict Fiji travel restrictions, the beautiful island nation is more than ready to safely welcome its travellers back. Visiting Fiji will be a possibility as the authorities plan to reopen tourists in December.

The Fiji Islands will welcome fully vaccinated travellers from several countries, including the United Kingdom.

Apart from being vaccinated with an accepted medical brand, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, or Moderna, travellers 12 years and above will have to show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of their departure and take a rapid test within 48 hours of arriving at their selected resort and skip the quarantine. However, unvaccinated children under the age of 18 can travel accompanied by a vaccinated adult when visiting Fiji.

Tourism Fiji’s CEO Brent Hill said in a statement that they are entirely ready as they have been planning for nearly two years now and can assure international travellers that Fiji is safe and prepared to welcome them back.

According to the tourism board, more than 80% of eligible people have been fully vaccinated in Fiji. Still, tourists are asked to avoid ‘low vaccination zones’ when possible.

The country has implemented a ‘Care Fiji Commitment’ certification, where vaccinated travellers can travel in confidence, book and stay in certified resorts, use certified transportation, and be assured that all tourism businesses they come in contact with have a 100% vaccinated staff.

As a result, the nations flag carrier, Fiji Airways, plans to recommence operations with its first commercial flights.

Fiji’s Minister for Tourism, Faiyaz Koya, said the airline, hotels, and tourism providers are all ready to welcome visitors back, adding that “in these two years, we’ve struggled, we’ve adapted, and we’ve prepared…We are ready to let happiness find you again.”
